Welcome to Western Australia's first ever axe throwing tournament & Australia’s first ever dedicated Big Axe weekend. This is one for the history books - as we have an EPIC weekend of Big Twig throwing hosted by MANIAX Northbridge from 14 -16 March!
Start the weekend on Friday 14 March with some fun Big Axe mini games and skill throwing - before launching into a BIG Saturday of tournaments headlined by the Great Western. Then finish up the weekend on Sunday 16 March with the world’s first IATF Big Axe Doubles!

Kick the weekend off with a fun night of Big Axe Team Skills Challenges. Details on the games will be released closer to the event - but guaranteed fun and friendly competition.

Big Twig Throwdown
How do you throw the Big Twig, One hand or Two? This competition will be the ultimate test as we run parallel double elimination tournaments - one for each style of chucker. On Sunday there will be a throw-off between our two champions to establish the superiority of one technique only!
Standard ruleset - with premier tiebreakers. 3 Seeding Games + Double Elimination. Two Prize Pools.
When: Saturday 15 March, 10am (registration open from 9am, practice from 9:30am)

The Great Western
The Main Event, and The Ultimate Big Axe competition of 2025. Premier rules, and All Clutch Tiebreakers. No need to bull-in! Three attempts at the clutch, and if we reach a 3rd attempt, the axe that lands closest to the clutch wins. 3 Seeding Games + Double Elimination.
When: Saturday 15th March, 3pm (registration from 2pm, practice from 2.30pm)

Big Axe Doubles
The first ever Big Axe Doubles Tournament in Australia - the Ultimate Big Axe skill test. Grab a partner and let's throw some big axe! Featuring a bespoke target featuring modified bullseyes and clutches to match the bigger teams and bigger axes! Standard rules with Premier Tiebreakers.
When: Sunday 16th March, 11am (practice from 10:30am)
Cost: $160 per team

FAQ
I’ve never thrown at MANIAX, an axe throwing league or thrown a big axe before?
All competitions are open to all skill levels. There is no need to qualify, good on you for giving it a go! Our tournaments are filled with experienced throwers willing to share their knowledge of throwing - not to mention our skilled staff who will ensure you are coached and briefed. It'll be tough but a lot of fun, and you'll also learn a bunch in the process!
If you have never thrown big axes as a doubles team before, our tournament officials will help you safely navigate the skill before the competition.
Will I need to bring my own axe?
For tournament throwing, it is recommended however, if you get in touch beforehand we will make sure you have a suitable axe to throw. Please note that for big axe doubles, competitors must bring their own axes.
