APATC 2025

The Asia Pacific Axe Throwing Championship (APATC) is back for 2025 – and this year it’s bigger, sharper, and more exhilarating than ever before! From 19–21 September, the best axe throwers from across the region descend on MANIAX Sydney Inner West for three days of fierce competition and AXE-citement.

At stake? Cash prizes, trophies, and spots at the 2026 IATC.

Friday 19 September

Australian Big Axe Championship – 9:30am

When it comes to the axe, the bigger, the better. And it doesn’t get much bigger than the Australian Big Axe Championship! The winner of this tournament will secure a place at the IATC Big Axe tournament in 2026.

FORMAT: 3-4 seeding games + Double Elimination - everyone makes the bracket.

‍SCORING: IATF Premier Ruleset. Tiebreakers go straight to clutches, no need to score a bullseye first. On the 3rd attempt, the closest to the clutch wins.

COST: $85pp

Rise of the Valkyries – 4:30pm

This tournament is open to any thrower who meaningfully identifies as a trans or cis woman, non-binary person, or other marginalized gender. The winner of Rise of the Valkyries will not only receive a bid to the IATC 2026 Slayer Series, but also have their name etched into the epic Valkyrie trophy!

Saturday 20 September

St Peters Shield (U55) – 9:00am

Where it all began - The St Peters Shield is a homage to where our Australian IATF journey began. St Peters MANIAX was the first Axe Throwing Venue in Australia, and it's now our 10th anniversary. This tournament is for throwers who have an average of U55 for the current year according to AxeScores. We welcome new throwers, young throwers and throwers who want to try their first prem tournament! The winner of this tournament will receive a place reserved for them at an equivalent IATC 2026 tournament.

Please note: Only players with an IATF Premier match average of 55.0 points or below, as shown on their Axescores profile under the ‘Current Year’ filter at the time of ticket purchase, are eligible to enter. If you do not have a Premier average, subtract 10 points from your ‘Current Year’ Standard average to determine eligibility.

Kilderkin Classic – 1:30pm

All the fun and hijinks of APATC Doubles returns with this tournament. Dedicated to the memory of Vivian, this tournament will channel Kilderkin’s commitment to the axe with a premier ruleset, and his rare spirit with the single party-clutch at the top of each target. The winning team will earn a place at the IATC 2026 Doubles Tournament.

FORMAT: 3-4 Seeding Games + Single Elimination - everyone makes the bracket.

‍SCORING: IATF Premier Target + Centred Party Clutch. The party clutch is the only active clutch, except for Big Axe Tiebreakers.

COST: $160 per team - only 1 registration required per team.

Twisted Skills Yahtzee – 6:30pm

Browny's Twisted Skills Yahtzee makes its debut! An event filled with laughter, shenanigans, lots of axes in the same target and pure fun. This is a team event - grab your mates to make a team of 4. Sign up as an individual - but select whether you have a team or don't have a team and we will sort you out!

Start: 6:30pm

FORMAT: Yahtzee ruleset, double elimination format - minimum 2 games. Expect a few twists & turns. Underhand, 1.5 rotation, double rotation & ambi will be thrown.

COST: $40pp or $160 per team of 4

Sunday 21 September

The Asia Pacific Axe Throwing Championship – 9:30am

The Grand Slam of Asia Pacific. The pinnacle of Axe Throwing in the Southern Hemisphere. The APATC Open is your opportunity to prove you have what it takes to be called the Best Down Under, and have your name etched onto the magnificent APATC Trophy for all eternity. Seeding matches into a full Double Elimination. The top four places will receive automatic qualification into IATC 2026 Wilson Cup Round 2.
